Jake “Jack Mack” Makela, a beloved friend, native of Finlayson, Minnesota, and alumnus of Hinckley-Finlayson High School, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. He was 28 years old.
Known for his joyful personality, contagious smile, and fun-loving spirit, Jake was a cherished presence across Pine County. His passing leaves a deep loss among his family, former classmates, and lifelong friends.

Growing up in Finlayson, Jake attended Hinckley-Finlayson High School, where he formed strong, lasting bonds with peers, teammates, and neighbors.
Whether spending time with lifelong friends or bringing laughter to everyday moments, Jake possessed a unique warmth that naturally drew people to him. To the families and friends who grew up alongside him, he was much more than a friend—he was a constant source of joy and camaraderie.
